Recording Problem Windows XP
I am not entirely new to Audacity but have not done any major recording or editing with it. That said, I have installed the software on a new computer and am not picking up any sound when I try to record. I usually record streaming audio of our pastors sermon from thier website and in the past just selected the line in option. Audacity would record whatever sound was coming through the computer. Now I get nothing. Any suggestions are appreciated.
Re: Recording Problem Windows XP
Line In should only give you whatever is plugged into the Line In port on the sound card, it should not give you the speaker output unless there's a cable running from the output to the input.
You're looking for an input that's usually called "Stereo Mix" or "What U Hear":

Whether or not you can actually access that source is entirely dependent on your sound card drivers.
