once again audacity is messing up my sound on my computer...

Post by panicrocks331 » Wed Jan 16, 2008 3:20 pm

I used this program once before and now i tried it again thinking it wouldnt screw with my sound and it happened again, i tried to edit a song with the program it automatically opened up the song and put it in a slower playing mode, so now my whole computer sounds real low, and i dont know how to fix it. I also try to play a song on my music player and it plays real slow. is there any way that i can fix this inside the program?

Re-boot and everything will be back to normal. You may also be able to fix this by changing the sample rate in the lower left hand corner of Audacity's main screen.

This sort of thing seems to be an issue with specific drivers and specific hardware. Either the driver is too stupid to re-set it's own sample rate, or Audacity isn't telling it explicitly to do that. I'm not sure which is supposed to happen.

You may also be trying to play a sound file at a sample rate that your sound card doesn't support. Not all cards support all sample rates.
