Hi
I've got a problem with the VST Enabler.I've got the Audacity 1.34 version. After installing the VST Enabler and pasting the files to the plugin folder of audacity, Audacity won't run anymore ! After deleting the VST Enabler, Audacity is operating back again.
Can somebody help ?? What's going on ? I also tried the older version of Audacity.Same thing.

Does Audacity give you an error message when you try to start it?
I've seen this problem a handful of times, I don't think it's ever been resolved fully.
On the other hand, Audacity's VST support is rudimentary at best (no GUI support, no realtime support, no file read/write support, some plugins crash Audacity, etc.), so you probably won't be missing out on much anyway. This is due to a legal issue that only Steinburg can resolve and they're not likely to budge.

I have the same problem. It actually worked at first, and I could see the list of all the plug-ins I downloaded (they were the mda-vst-fx package. I tried to playback a recording without the effects and it wouldn't work, there was a problem with Audacity's audio output. Now Audacity won't even run.. In fact, whatever happened was so severe an error message pops up when I try and run the uninstaller, due to "bad image" or "insufficient system resources." And now it seems I can't open any other programs for the same reason. I only just now got this problem after trying either the mda-vst-fx package or the vst enabler. Wow. Looks like this thing really f*cked me. Maybe you guys should take the VST Enabler off the site..

samikx, you've got much bigger problems than what the VST enabler could possibly give you. It sounds like you've got a dying hard drive (the "bad image" message) or a virus ("insufficient resources"). The VST enabler can't mess with the uninstaller program.
I did hear about one person who had conflicts between two different VST programs after installing Audacity's VST enabler. But I never heard anything back about what exactly happened and nothing was resolved.

I have installed SoundSoap 2.1.1 and Audacity 1.2.6. Each has worked fine as a stand-alone. After converting Audacity projects to WAV format, SoundSoap has functioned fine on the resulting WAV files. However, when I tried to add SoundSoap as a plug-in, Audacity crashed each time I tried to open it. I don't think it crashed because of the SoundSoap plug-in. I downloaded the VST Windows Installer (vst bridge-1.1.exe) and the vst bridge 1.1.win.zip (to get the vst-bridge.dll). I executed the Installer in the Plug-Ins folder and pasted vst-bridge.dll into the same folder. It crashed every time, whether or not the SoundSoap plug-in was also in the Plug-In folder. If I left the VST Bridge folder in thte Plug-Ins folder, but deleted the vst-bridge.dll, it opened normally, but SoundSoap wasn't in the "Effects" tab. So it seems that the vst-bridge.dll is the problem, unless I have misunderstood the installation instructions. I would be pleased to know if there is a solution to this problem
