Re: buzz in recording on netbook
Are you using an internal microphone?

Re: buzz in recording on netbook
no i am plugging my shure sm58 direction into the mic jack on the netbook (via a reducer cord - from xlr to 1/8")
when i use the netbook's internal mic it comes thru very strong w/o buzz

Re: buzz in recording on netbook
laptop/netbook mic sockets are not designed to work with that sort of microphone - sometimes they will work a bit and sometimes they buzz really badly. They rarely work well. A better solution is to use an external (USB) microphone pre-amp, though that will cost a bit of money.
