Heya im trying to record some music (guitar) on Audacity 1.3 by laying the mic next to the amp. Is this possible? Because when i plug the USB adapter in and press record, it comes up with "Error while opening sound device. Please check the input device settings and the project sample rate" I have tried to change the project rate and it has still said this.

I also tried taking the singstar out of the adapter and putting it into the microphone place next to where you put your headphones and it still came up with this.

can you help me?

Many USB microphones need special settings.

Edit > Preferences > Quality > 44100, 16-bit, Mono. Those setting locations change a bit with the Audacity version. Restart Audacity and that message should go away -- if that's what the problem is.
