Trouble Saving
I began a recording, then stopped and restarted thus having two tracks. I closed the top track because the data was in the bottom track. Now I cannot save, play, cut, copy, etc. Is there any way to save this recording? Thanks
Re: Trouble Saving
You need to supply more information for someone to help. Do you have all of the song recorded on the remaining track? Let me get this straight:
You clicked the record button, started recording, messed up or something, stopped recording, then clicked the record button again, resulting in a new track, beginning where the other track ended. Then, you decided you didn't need the first track, so you closed it, leaving you with the second track you recorded on. Now you can't save the entire project, or edit it in any way? Do you have the record button on still? How about the play button? I have noticed that it can't edit a track while another is playing or recording. Also, is the track muted, or is it in the process of applying a filter or generating something? More info is needed.

Re: Trouble Saving
Thanks for your response. It looks like you are understanding the problem. I have checked the record, pause and play buttons and they are inactive. Also, when I tried to open a new file, I was not able to record. I thought maybe the program was frozen but my task manager shows it running. All of the data is on the remaining track but I am unable to do anything with it. I am hopeful that I can recover the data.
Re: Trouble Saving
You can only run one instance of Audacity at a time or you will get all sorts of strange problems (Audacity should prevent you from doing that).
It sounds like Audacity may have frozen. Some opperations take a little time to complete - exactly how long depends on what it is you are doing and how fast your machine is, but while Audacity is processing it may look like it has frozen. If you are new to Audacity it is a good idea to practice with some very brief recordings so that you can become familiar with how everything works before you try making long recordings.
If you continue to have problems, don't hesitate to post, but do try to give as much detail as possible about what you are doing to help your fellow Audacity users identify the cause of the problem.
