"Mix Paste" available in Audacity?

I've used Cool Edit Pro at work, and Cool Edit has a function called "mix paste" which will paste audio onto an existing track without replacing the existing track: the "pasted" information is simply combined with what's already there.
How can I do this in Audacity? THANX for any help anyone can give, and THANX for this program! (currently using version 1.2.3)

You don't need "Mix Paste" in Audacity.
Unlike Cool Edit Pro, the multi-track view is used all the time in Audacity - so if you want two clips mixed, just paste in a new track. You can adjust the levels if you wish with the Envelope Tool.
I find that v.1.3.4 handles multiple tracks and clips better than v.1.2.6

Thanks, I'm not that experienced yet in Audacity--my situation is, I have short clips of audio maybe 10-20 seconds in length, that I want to paste onto an existing cut (which might be several minutes long). I have to be able to position the short clips "exactly" where I want them, in the existing music. Any ideas about how best to do that? Thanx in advance

Use Audacity 1.3.4 beta rather than 1.2.6
Use the "Zoom" tool and the "Time Shift" tool to precisely locate your clips.
