isolating a voice from a song

i know that you can do a karaoke track w/ no voice, what about the opposite? a track w only the voice, and no music?

I've tried equalization, it worked okay, but i could still hear the background music a little. Is there anbody good enough to pick out the frequency of voices, or even use other effects to try and isolate the voice?

The "karaoke trick" works by cancelling out signals common to both Left and Right channels.
As far as I know there is no equivalent for cancelling out all but common signals.

The trouble with using Eq for isolating a voice from the music is that the frequencies of the voice overlap the frequencies of the music. Depending on your desired result, there may be a couple more ideas here that you could try:
