Hello. I've been using Audacity 1.2.6 for six months for ripping the audio from the news at foreign languages sites. I had no problems with it until today when I tried to replayed the audio I just recorded, I couldn't hear any sound. My volume is up though. Also, every time I record a audio the blue line that goes across the screen is flat instead of up and down. The program was working great and it had no trouble recording and playbacking before it happened. I even tried reinstalling the program including rebooting the computer, but the problem kept persisting. I can play my older files though, but any new recordings I make will have no sound when I replay them.

I'm using Windows XP Home Edition SP3 and using SoundMAX as my audio device. I am not to sure where to go from here. I also tried reading the tutorials for help but not for this specific problem. As said above, it was working fine before this happened. I just can't figure out why the playback portion is silent even though it was working OK before. I am pretty sure that I didn't mess with any audio options or preferences that would have affected Audacity. I would greatly appreciate if you help me with this. If there is something I left out, please tell me.

Look for a loudspeaker icon near the time/date on your desktop. Open it and look for the recording options. Set the recording input to "Stereo Mix".

It worked!!! I found the wave out mix option that seemed to fixed the problem. Thank you very much for replying and helping me
