Audacity & Karaoke...

Post by nigel777 » Fri Jan 04, 2008 12:28 pm

Hello! I am interested in changing the pitch )key) of a karaoke song and being able to save and burn to disc complete with lyrics. Not sure if that is possible with Audacity. To be used as early training for performers for in house senior musical efforts.

Changing pitch is easy. Just import the wav file, press [ctrl]+a to highlight the whole thing, and then Effects -> Change Pitch. Then Export (not Save) to a new wav file.

As for how to get that onto a CD with the graphics enabled, I have no idea. I'm sure there's karaoke software that will do that.

To burn karaoke disks your CD burner must be "CD+G" capable. You can test your burner with the "Nero InfoTool" (http://www.nero.com/enu/support-nero8-t ... ities.html)

There are various programs available for burning karaoke CD's, but It's not a thing that I've done so I can't recommend any particular program.

Thanx for the reply. I am using a very good CDG program now, BUT it will not Copy WAV/CDG files.
I did not try import and export of CDG using Audacity. Will do that. Also, I use Audacity a great deal and love it! Thanx Again.

alatham & All, I think question/problem is solved. Alatham pointed out something about exporting the file which works. FYI, when I use Power Karaoke CDG i rip to hard drive as CDG & mp3 which becomes two separate files. Importing the mp3 into Audacity allows me ( I think) to make changes AND export to replace original mp3 file. When playing on PC player music and graphics both work. Will try a Burn but that should work as well. THANX AGAIN!!!!
