Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

bringing mp3 player recording into Audacity

Post by hrtgraham » Sun Jan 31, 2010 6:54 pm

Good Afternoon: We have a wav file from an mp3 recording device that we are trying to bring onto audacity. We have Audacity 1.2.6 and are using windows vista home premium. It will not load. Tried to import as audio and also as raw data. Only get sped up version. Any advice would be most appreciated

The file is probably encoded in a format that is not MP3 (could be WMA, AAC, or any number of other formats).
Audacity 1.2.x supports few audio formats and many compressed audio formats just become super-fast chirps.

Audacity 1.3.11 can be enhanced by adding "FFMpeg" which gives it support for many other file types.
Audacity 1.3.11 and FFMpeg can be downloaded from the main Audacity web site: http://audacityteam.org/download/
