noise reduction settings 1.26 vs 1.33

Hi,
I have upgraded from 1.26 to 1.33. When I reduce the noise in 1.26 I use the lowest reduction setting. Does anyone know what the equivalent to that would be in 1.33?
Thanks,
John

Whatever it is, it's going to be better. Noise reduction control in 1.2.x was almost entirely unsatisfactory and if you needed more control, you were advised to go to the Beta software. I don't know that there is a 1:1 relationship at any one of the settings. Everybody ran the old tool at minimum because you couldn't get to the setting you actually wanted. Now you can.

This wiki page has a section on the new Noise Removal algortihm:

It doesn't say what the level of noise reduction should translate to. For me, I've always found the default 20dB value to be a bit on the high side for mic recordings at work. I would guess that 20dB on the new scale is roughly equal to the middle of the original slider. I can't say any more than that without making shit up.

Thanks Koz/Alatham,
I guess I'll just have to experiment.
By the way - I have hooked up an amp between the turntable and computer (as you suggested koz). It works well, much less need for software amplification, less noise, better sound quality. Thanks.

5dB seems to be about right.
