Windows XP Movie Maker sound question

Hello,
I have been editing my DV.AVI and MP3 files and compiling multiple clips into movie files, with my Windows Movie Maker program. I have few questions:
1. How do I convert my MP3 music clips to WAV.
2. Quick preamble: Since DVD burning capabilities are not native to Windows XP, I needed to purchase an external burner. LP model. It came with PowerProducer software. Has anyone used this particular set-up? I've been having burning issues. Basically with disk media -and- video speed. I managed to burn a test video file onto a DVD-RW disk last eveing, however it was in hyper speed. Is this something that can be corrected after burning, and if not, how do I adjust it beforehand?
2. I ran across one of my music clips that has been behaving strangely. Basically, it will only play if I drag it to my time line and click on it in the middle of the clip. It also curiously does not display the usual sound waves that the other ones do. Just a strait (asystole) line. Is there someway to correct this?
I also have some specific Movie Maker questions, so if there is anyone here that is familiar with that particular program, I'd appreciate your help.
Thanks for your help,
Sunnydu
