Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Bad sound quality.

I saw that a later version of audacity has come, so decided to update my audacity. I uninstalled mine and downloaded and installed the latest version. I set the preferences according to my computer. But the recording quality is very bad now. It was well on my previous version, but it is not the same now. Somebody please help me.

what are you recording - voice with microphone, LPs with USB turntable or what. In what way are the recordings bad? Set the input level right

and set the Project Rate bottom left of the Audacity screen to 44100 Hz.

It would be good to know hard numbers. Which version did you leave and which version are you on now? Which Windows do you have? Did you know you can install version 1.2.x and 1.3.x on the same machine?
