clearing up audio

Post by pyxzer » Sat Dec 29, 2007 3:11 am

hey,

I wanted to know if it's possible to somehow remove similar audio from a stereo track's different channel.

like, if it's:
left: peep, piip, peep, peep
right: peep, , peep, peep

then to remove all the 'peep's

hope I made it clear, any help is appreciated and if you more explanation, then ask away.

There are only two ways to "remove" audio using the idea of manipulating differences between tracks. The first is convert the performance to mono. If the sound was out of phase between left and right, it will vanish. The other way is to use the Vocal Removal Tool.

What that one does is flip the phase of one track and make mono. Anything in the exact center--like the lead singer (or the drums)--will vanish.

In all cases you get a single channel (mono) show out of the deal.

If neither of those worked, you're dead. "Filtering" one instrument or sound out of a performance is not quite completely impossible, but it's really close. Or as a variation on that, it's possible, but the rest of the performance gets trashed.

"Yeah, the clarinets are gone, but why is everything else bubbly and hollow?"

Didn't do exactly what I wanted, but I already got what I wanted so it's alright.
Thanks for the help anyhow.
