hello..
hope everyone is well.
ive been recording for months with the same amp or mic directly into my pc mic input.
few days ago for no apparent reason the sound just stop going in.
the mic input level meter indicates max but there is actually no sound being produced or recorded.
i really need to fix this quick..
can anyone help?

Can we assume you mean the red Audacity recording meters bounce when you speak, but after you press Record and Stop, you don't get a recording--you don't get the green meters bouncing? That's important. The fact that you can't hear it is a different problem.

when i hit the mic meter ,instead of as usual folowing the sound input,it fills up all the way and ignores any sound.
the audio track is flatline when i record.playbacks no sound either..but it does playback other stuff ive recorded before these troubles.so it seems to be definatly a sound input problem.not playback.

You may have a hardware problem with either the mic or the mic input (giving you a DC voltage on the input instead of an audio signal). Is it possible for you to try recording with a different input source and a different input socket? (for example using a tape player into the "line in").
