Audacity will not Save a sound file but it will save a Project. Projects are instructions about where to find sound files on your computer. If you save a project and then move or change the sound files you used in your show, Audacity will not be able to find them and there will be holes in your show.

This happens all the time when people clean up all those sound files or put them all into one folder or make some other change. We also warn people that they can't move an Audacity Project. People get into all sorts of trouble when they buy a new computer and have trouble moving their shows over to the new one.

So which one of these things did you do? It's not fatal. If you moved your sound files to a new folder, just move them back to where they came from and the show will come back to life.

If you want to send a real sound file to your mum, you need to Export one. Again, Audacity will not Save a sound file of your show.

If the sound is completely missing from certain sections of the project, then you have possibly deleted or moved some of the data that the project was using.
