Export Multiple Fails

After completing the recording of a roughly 20 minutes season, I attempted to export it as "multiple" to an empty folder, which I have done many times before, but it refuses to do it. It fails at the very beginning with the message: "Cannot Export Audio to ...(directory name here)".
Export format is WAV. Split files based on Labels, and Name Files using Labe/Track names.
The computer is a PC, running Windows Vista 64.
Can anyone please give me some hint as to how overcome this problem? The .aup file which I'm using seems in good shape, so I'm at a loss.

You can get that if you use messy names in the labels, or you decided to put a date in the exported filename. All these applications should only use safe characters: upper and lower case letters, numbers, underscore, and dash. That's it. No other characters.

Using either slash mark or other punctuation marks -- or "foreign" châráctërs -- is loudly begging for trouble.

Vista likes putting up walls between applications and services. Do you have permission to write to that location? Can you write to anywhere else, like the desktop?

I bet you're wondering why they don't fix this character in label thing. They did -- in Audacity 1.3.11.

Come on somebody! Audacity won't let me export multiple label recordings even when the labeling contains no words--just the red flag. Nothing has worked. Can someone give me the magic cure?

Export Multiple had known problems in Audacity 1.2. Can you Export anything to that folder, ever? Select a short piece of the show and try File > Export Selected, or File > Export the whole show. If Simple Export starts working, then you should close the Project and reopen it in Audacity 1.3.12.

You can safely install both Audacity 1.2 and 1.3, but only use one at a time. Audacity 1.3 Projects will not open in 1.2.

If none of them works, then you may have a damaged Audacity or a System problem like permission issues or other Vista problem. If you have Vista set for Auto Update, then the Vista you have now is different from the one that worked well before.

Thanks Kozikowski. This is embarrassing, but how do I know which Audacity version I have, and then how do I change it to the newer version if needed? As you can see, I'm not a computer guy. I only like computers when everything works. Thanks for your help.

You can find your version of Audacity by firing it up and then clicking Help > About Audacity
