Many thanks for your input. I have visited the link you suggested and found it very helpful and have copied the details for future reference.
I intend to export my Audacity edited tracks to iTunes via MP3 because I was under the impression it was the best way, but your suggestion has made me think again.
I wish to possibly put my tracks from iTunes onto disc, but primarily I wish to put them onto my MP3 player, which is not an iPod, so if I do decide on the disc at any time, your given advice will be very helpful. For the purpose of putting the tracks onto my MP3 player, due you recommend the MP3 format or the other two choices?

If you are not using an iPod then Mp3 is probably the best choice for you - the minimum bitrate I would use is 192 for music (and I have old ears) - 128 for spoken word.

I'm puzzled though - why are you using iTunes and not using an iPod to go with it?
