Hi,
I'm new to all this stuff. I recorded some vinyl succesfully and burnt it to cd. however, i've tried today to record some old 'd-i-y' home mix cassettes I mixed ages ago and after an hour of succesful recording, it starts to record over itself leaving me with a recording of 12mins instead of 1hr 12mins.
I know its probably something stupid I'm doing but can anyone help?
Cheers,
Stuart.

Did you start a new project before you started recording? If not, it's possible that you had a certain length of time selected before you started and then Audacity would only record for the time selected.

I don't think this is a silly problem...yet.
This is where you post a list of your machine specs. Which Windows, Hard Drive Size, How full, Memory, etc. etc? Exactly which Audacity.
Go into Audacity Preferences and tell us the first two quality numbers. 44100, 16?
When you exported the 12 minute capture to WAV format, how big was the file and as close as you can tell how long it was in minutes and seconds.

I didn't think Audacity 1.2.x had timers. Where do you set that?

You're quite right, that's only in 1.3 - however, I think it's still a good idea to start a new project when you are um.... starting a new project (rather than just deleting tracks and using the same project).
