How do you turn on the mixer tab?

How do you turn on the mixer tab?

It stays grayed out. I can move the two sliders. But the mixer selector is never available.

This is part of my bigger question - how do you record with Audacity 1.2.6 in Vista, SP2?

Audacity 1.2.6 is rather old now and does not run well on Vista. Upgrade to Audacity 1.3.11 from here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php? ... tly_Builds
