So, I recently picked up an Alesis MultiMix 16. I messed up somewhere while updatingthe drivers, because in my recording software the device now appears as #Bad Mapper.
The device doesn't even show up in the Windows Sound and Audio Devices Properties window anymore, but when I put the disc in to install the original drivers, it says it can't continue because there's already a newer version of the drivers installed. But, they definitely were not installed properly.
I'd like to just remove everything and start from scratch, because I'm not sure that I even correctly completed the original installation. Does anyone on here know how to remove all of that stuff from my computer?
I'm running Windows XP, if that makes any difference.

Yes that does make a big difference.

First check to see if there is an "Uninstall" option - either from your MultiMix installation CD, or any MultiMix installation folder, or in "Control Panel -> Add / Remove programs"

If not, then you can try this:

Make sure that you have a Windows CD handy when you do this (or your system installation disk if your computer came pre-installed)

Boot up into Safe Mode, with your Multi-Mix disconnected.

If you go into Control Panel, and from the "Classic View" open the "System" icon.
Go to the "Hardware" tab and click on "Device Manager"

You now need to find the drivers in the list - probably in the "Sound, Video and Games Controler" section.
When you have found them, Right Click and select "Properties".
On the "Drivers" tab you should see an option to either "remove" or "Uninstall" the driver.
Repeat for all drivers that relate to the MultiMix.

Now with the MultiMix still disconnected, reboot your computer (normal mode).
This is where you may need your system disks - if you have accidentally removed the wrong drivers, Windows will try and re-install them and may prompt you for the disks.

You should now have a computer that is free of all MultiMix drivers, ready for a clean install.
