Since installing Cubase LE4 I have been unable to launch Audacity (Stable) or beta. I'm using the Presonus Firestudio Project w/Universal Control as an I/O. Any tips for troubleshooting this would be appreciated. Coincidence or not, Audacity ran fine prior to Cubase install. Cubase does run stable.

Re: Unable to Launch stable version
Cubase will use ASIO drivers by default but Audacity does not support ASIO - Audacity uses the standard Windows drivers.
Go into the Windows Control Panel and in the Sounds section, set the Presonus as the default device for recording and playback.
Find the hidden file "audacity.cfg" on your computer and open it in Notepad. Delete everything in that file except for the first line "NewPrefsInitialized=1" then save the file.
Reboot your computer and check that the Presonus is still selected in Windows Control Panel.
Now try to launch Audacity 1.3.x - you should be welcomed with the "select language" screen.

excellent..will report back
Re: Unable to Launch stable version
No audacity.cfg so I manually created one and placed it in /applications data/audacity/ , rebooted and... nada. Got the select language screen and that's it.
Another symptom btw is that a launch attempt really hogs cpu time, maxing out at 100% . All the sound configs were already set to your recommendations.
Running XP btw..you probably new that...
..
thanks

Re: Unable to Launch stable version
Do you have the VST enabler installed for Audacity 1.2 ?
If you do, remove it and try launching Audacity 1.2

Re: Unable to Launch stable version
Here's where I am..
Did a complete uninstall of stable, including the registry. A (presumable) clean Install of 1.3.10. Still will not completely launch. I can see the process running. CPU cycles at 100%. Manually copied audacity.cfg to folder.
I don't suppose there is a "safe mode" launch (w/o drivers) that I could launch?
I consider this a challenge now
