Export to wav

Post by JoelG » Thu Dec 20, 2007 2:25 am

I am trying to export a project as a wav file. It is quite a large file, 1.5 Hrs. When I try to export I can select the drive and folder to save it to, and it goes through the process of saving , but in the end the file is not saved! I don't know what I am doing wrong. Is it a quirk of Vista, I'm using Vista Home Premium? I have searched all my drives for a wav file to no avail. I need to insert this audio into a video I am making and the video software only supports wav and wma.

Premiere? Ulead?

So you did the capture in 48,000 instead of 44,100, right, because that's the video standard? I've done that. However, I know that there is an upper limit to the size that a WAV file can be. It's 4G due to the way they constructed the filename and address space.

Try exporting half the show at a time.

Audacity burn CDs, so you'd still have to export it somewhere.

And 1.5 hours isn't over the 4 GB limit for a wav file.

This is an odd problem, are you sure you're Exporting and not Saving an Audacity Project?

Can you Export smaller files to WAV and find them? Can you export to Desktop without any trouble?

Yes! The wave file is now sitting on my desktop. I have not a clue why I couldn't save it to another directory, maybe because the directory was on another drive volume? Some quirk with Vista? Anyway thanks for the support.
