I haven't used Audacity for a while and tried to use it to make a ringtone cut. I was using the older version and when I imported the audio from my music files it recorded the clip at a very fast speed. I went to the Audicity web site and saw the new 1.3 beta version. I removed the old version and downloaded the new. Now when I attempt to record it records the clip at a slower speed than normal. I'm no computer wiz. Now what do I do? I'm using Windows XP Professional. I've used Audacity before on this computer with no problems.

Re: Slows down during import
The problem is most likely caused by Audacity not understanding the format of the files that you are importing. It sounds like Audacity 1.3 can almost guess the format correctly but may be setting the wrong sample rate. Try adjusting the sample rate by clicking on the name of the track and selecting a different sample rate from the drop down menu.

Re: Slows down during import
Thanks stevethefiddle. It was the sample rate. Works fine now.
