Presonus Firepod not showing up in Audacity

Post by TBBucs » Sat Jan 02, 2010 7:20 pm

I'm trying to use a Presonus Firepod as my input device for Audacity 1.2.6, but when I go to Preferences > I/O, the Playback and Recording device dropdowns don't have the Firepod as one of the options. I installed the Firepod drivers from the CD that came with it, and Windows XP is seeing it (it's listed as working ok in the control panel). Any idea what's going on?

Can you set it as the default recording and playback device in the "Windows Control Panel > Sounds and Audio Devices" ?
(this requires that Windows drivers are installed and not just ASIO drivers)

If you can, then do that and set Audacity "Edit menu > Preferences > Devices" to use "Microsoft Sound Mapper".
You may have more than one option for "Host" (Audacity 1.2) - "Direct Sound" is likely to give best performance, but test all available options.
