Removing vocals and mixing

Post by DJLunatic » Mon Dec 28, 2009 11:17 am

I have a good idea of how to remove vocals from a song. It has never worked for me, but I know that is a strong possibility with any certain song. But my question is after removing vocals from one song which I will call Song A and removing vocals from another song, Song B. How do I exactly add the vocals from Song A to Song B's music? I've tried looking at the manual and FAQ and even searched on Google, but all they have turned up is just how to get lucky and by chance remove vocals from a song. So ya thanks for the help in advance.

You need to isolate the vocals from Song A and remove the vocals from Song B then mix the two tracks together.

For vocal removal see here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php? ... al_Removal
Note that it will often now work very well.

For isolating vocals, see here http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewtopic ... ate#p63510
Note that isolating vocals is more difficult and often works less well than removing vocals.

Assuming you get some worthwhile results from the above, you may need to do a lot of editing and processing if the two songs are not at the same tempo or in the same key.

Your chances of success are slim, but it could be fun trying.
