computer won't let me play it after i recorded it
We could use just a few more pieces of information, like the type of computer and exact version of Audacity.
If you're using a USB sound device like a new turntable, many times Windows will mistakenly record from the turntable and then send the playback out to the same turntable instead of the speakers.
