Hello -

I'm trying to record streamed audio using Audacity. I've followed all the instructions I can find, but with no success so far. I've selected Microsoft Sound Mapper in the preferences, but no joy recording. When I go into Control Panel (Vista) to set the default recording bit, the only device it shows is the Edirol UA-3FX interface that I have plugged in - no sound card or anything.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

The Edirol device you have is an external USB soundcard. When you plug it in it takes over the sound services from you PC's onboard soundcard.

To use the Edirol to record streaming audio you will need to loop back the RCA ouputs of the device to its inputs - and make sure that both Windows and Audacity are set to use the Edirol as te input and output device. I use an earlier Edirol device (the UA-1EX) to perform the same function on one of my PCs.
