deleting tracks from computer

I am very new to this game but so far all is going well,I am recording vinal to disc but,once the recording is completed,how do I remove the material from the computer ?.
Audacity appears to work very much like photoshop elements premiere,where the material is in a file which can be deleted,but I cant find out how it works in Audacity,though it has to be somewhat similer,it is obviously a simple process,but so far it aludes me.any assistance in this regard will be very gratefully recieved,happy christmas everyone,
