Problem with Recording Audio

When I first used audacity on my PC the audio recording was fine , whatever was playing on the computer , through the speakers , would record onto the file. But now im on my Laptop nothing happens. Unless I record it through a microphone (which works fine). Anything I can do to get this to work?

If you can't access that input even by poking around in Windows' audio software, then you only have two options:
1) Run a cable from Line Out to Line In. Many laptops don't have a Line In input, however.
2) Buy new hardware. Either the Behringer UCA202 or the Griffin iMic will work.
