Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

Program Audacity 1.3.10 with FFmpeg and Lame
OS Vista Home Premium

After D & D a wma audio file and starting Noise Removal the program crashes after 2 minutes with the notice " an unhandled exception occurred"
After trying every option without success what can I do ?
This problem also occurred when windows shutb down the program twice and lost an hours recording on each occasion

We'd like to discourage using abbreviations in a question. Dungeons and Dragons?

Audacity doesn't accept Windows Media files. It may seem to work for a brief time, but sooner or later, the system will go face first in the mud.

Convert the WMA files to WAV using the converter of your choice, or try Super or Switch (download).

We've been telling people to abandon Audacity 1.2 like a sinking boat and go to one of the 1.3 versions, but some of them have serious issues. If you don't need Export Multiple, go with the current 1.3.10.

Thanks

I cant rember where but I recall reading that version 1.3.10 was able to accept a WMA file, hence my reason for switching to this version.
Is this facility still in the unproven trial stage at this moment ?

I take your point re abbreviations in questions (Oops ! Sorry, I should have said 'regarding' )
I can see that abbreviations can be confusing, particularly to newcomers.
Wma, wmv, mpeg, jpeg, http, www, usa, uk, xp, org, gov, .......... Where will it all end ?

In future I shall endeavour to follow your example and restrict all abbreviations to "ANSWERS"

Yes it can, but you need to install ffmpeg http://manual.audacityteam.org/index.ph ... tallffmpeg
but you can't import files if they are DRM protected (copy protected).

If you need to use "Export Multiple" or "Export Selection" you should use the Audacity 1.3.11 "Nightly" from here http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php? ... tly_Builds
If you do not use those features then 1.3.10 should be fine.

The elves have to answer questions across all age groups and all three computer platforms. Some people assume we're looking over their shoulder and post one sentence questions. You posted good system information and that was very helpful. Every word counts.
