Hi,
this is just a note trying to be as helpful as possible to the development of this wonderful
software, AUDACITY.
I have read about people complaining concerning the synchronization of tracks, of sound samples,
etc. - that is - getting 2 or more tracks synced up and sounding together correct and good.
Well, pleased as punch as I am to report, that I myself have had GREAT success in synchronzing
tracks and sound samples an such.
That is to say with this helpful hint: if one zooms in on a sound even to a THOUSANDTH of a second!...
then one can edit and properly shave down the sample and line them up just so.
This worked great for me.
Not to mention my recent discovery of the "time shift" tool...
okay.
BTW - all of this work has been done on AUDACITY 1.2.6! THATS right...1.2.6. stable.
I dont upgrade cause i like old fashioned ways.
heheh.
simple is best, yknow.
okay! hope that helps people
have a good day
Ito

Yes, the zoom tools get a good workout when I'm cutting material. If you have a drumbeat or other sharp sound to use as a sync point, that makes the job that much easier. Zoom into the impact and slide around.
Hollywood has been doing that for decades.

The movie camera photographs that and the sound people have their recorder running at the same time.
"Scene Five, Take Twelve. Camera Mark! [bang]

<<<AUDACITY 1.2.6!>>>
If you're on Windows XP or before, that works just fine, but the more modern operating systems don't fully support Audacity 1.2. You can create some serious damage or program loss by upgrading your computer and not pulling Audacity with you.
That said, the most cutting edge Audacity versions really aren't completely stable and have serious problems of their own. I settled on Audacity 1.3.7 for day to day activities and that seems to work for me. Other elves are using slightly different versions..
If you find yourself with a Windows 7 machine or a new Intel Mac, you will not be able to continue with Audacity 1.2.

Ah,
sorry to hear that 1.2 wont work that well with the newer machines.
I'm just really content with my progress and wanted to share the news.
sometimes "keeping it simple" is the best way.
take care
