Cant load wav file

I've tried but failed to load into Audacity several wav files that were narrations associated with their video clips, each wav exported from Ulead Video Studion 9.

Audacity either appears to try to load the file, then crashes when I try to play the file, or else sometimes it tries to load it as an MP3 then crashes. I've been able to play these wav files ok on other players but Audacity 1.2.2 or 1.2.3 or 1.2.6 don't like them.

Can anyone help me please?

Don

DV production supports 32 KHz four-channel sound in addition to the usual 48 KHz Stereo stuff. Audacity will have no idea what that is.

Actually, if they're standard multi-channel wavs, Audacity should be able to load them with no problem. I've loaded 44.1KHz 4-channel wavs before. Audacity can't actually play all the channels correctly though, so it loads each channel as a separate mono track.

That doesn't mean that Video Studio 9 is actually generating standard multi-channel wavs. That I can't say.

I've already tried to answer this question in another thread here:

There's something odd about those wav files, but it's impossible to us to know for sure what. Do what I mentioned in the other thread and let us know what Windows has to say about the format of those files.
