Background noise in youtube recording

First time Audacity user - I tried to record a song from YouTube. Audio sounded fine while the song was recording but on playback there was a LOT of background noise. Hopefully, this is caused by something I'm doing or not doing. Thanks for any help!

You can get a lot of noise in a recording like this by recording the laptop microphone instead of YouTube directly. That gives you all the room noises and distortion in addition to the show.

There are ways of recording directly.
