Hello,
When I record an album the music comes out ok. A lot of scatchiness but that is normal for an album. My problem is with the vocal part of the track. It seems as if the singer is singing out of a tin can and I don't know how to correct this. Can someone help?
Thank you
Terry Brown

Re: vocals
I'm guessing that they are not singing out of a tin can. So perhaps you could tell us how you are recording them (what equipment, what operating system, which version of Audacity, how is it all connected together, what settings...)Terry Brown wrote:My problem is with the vocal part of the track. Re: vocals
A broken wire in many different places can cause this. You an also get a similar reaction if your speakers are wired wrong.

Re: vocals
yes well the equipment is a turntable from inovative technology. It is hooked up through USB port in the back of a Compaq computer. everything in it is all original factory built. When I play it back in Audacity it sounds fine. on recording it does not and when I play it back through Media player sometimes I don't hear it at all but in real player I do but it comes out like a tin can recording. The Music however is totally awesome with no glitches that I can see at all. Just the vocals are screwy.
Re: vocals
I'm getting lost at a crucial point:
1) You record the record into Audacity - it sounds great while you are recording?
2) You play back the recording in Audacity - it still sounds great?
3) You play back the recording in WMP and the vocal sounds like a tin can ...
Have I got (1) and (2) right?
How did we get from step (2) to step (3) ?

Re: vocals
Well sort of when I didn't hear it on playback it worked well. I then had the player through the front USB port. On playback it worked fine I could hearthe whole recording. The I went to the web site and they told me I should hear something while recording. I changed the location of the USB to the rear of the computer changed the settings in windows sound and now I can hear. The vocals come out at that point like a tin can and music is fine. so technically the recording now sounds like a tin can except for playback in audacity.
Re: vocals
Which settings did you change?
What happens if you change the settings back?
If I wanted to replicate your set-up, what do I need to do?

i did go to the site you wanted me to go. I didn't find the model I was using. It is an inovative technology ( IT) usb turntable. I went to all selections to see if there is one similar but was unsuccessful.
