Muted as in completely silent, or muted as in quieter than you think it should be?

What are you recording and on what? Pretend I want to go out and buy your computer.

Quiter than I think it should be, you can't hear what you play back but you can if you have yelled into the mic. I just record my self and others, I have a windows 7. Pretend you want to buy my computer, what do you mean?

Let's take this a slightly different way.

<<<you can if you have yelled into the mic.>>>

What microphone? The one built into your computer? Did you go out and buy a new microphone? Which one?

I bought a microphone when I first downloaded Audacity on my old computer, not too long ago. It's a GE microphone. I didn't keep the packaging so I don't know anything else about it really.

I just learned that it is a pc microphone with detachable mic and desktop stand, the site says it's compatible with Windows
