Audacity Forum

Well i am completly new to this program, but at school im in a film making class and im trying to get some tracks edit for use of this movie. I was looking through the FAQ's and help sections, but i did not find anything pertaining to my question. First off im look for a way to import an Itunes song, in the importing section it doesn't say anything about .m4a sound files so i was confused. and when i do either try importing the .m4a file or a .wma file i get strage blank noise...? if anyone has a link on how to help me from the website post it, or if someone has an answer please help!

If you're using Windows, I think you can convert .m4a files with "SUPER".

Audacity software clearly does not support WMA filetype[/b]
WMA i.e.Windows Media Audio -5 minutes of recorded sound takes up 3.5MB
WAV i.e. Windows Audio File - 5 Minutes of recorded sound takes up 51MB

So the WMA file is very compressed when compared with the WAV file for the same amount of music.
Audacity cannot handle it and therefore when played back it sounds like a big SCREECH.

My problem is that I wanted Audacity to be able to output WMA rather than WAV as Windows Media Player can play but otherwise cannot handle (i.e. index etc) WAV files.

Then dump WMP and use a better program (Music Cube for example http://www.musikcube.com/)
