"Audacity.exe has stopped working" message on opening

Installed 1.2.6 from the CD and it worked (once) a couple of weeks ago. Not today - received the above error message, so I've reinstalled, also downloaded 1.2.6 and installed it. Same error message. Any advice will be appreciated.

If you use Windows Vista or Windows 7 it is definitely recommended that you use Audacity 1.3.10 (or later).

I would also recommend Audacity 1.3.10 or later for XP.
