Audacity importing random joint stereo tracks as mono

I'm using Windows Vista
Audacity 1.2.6
I am making a mix, all tracks mixed together. I had added about 13 tracks to the mix, when two of the last three imported as mono. I am 100% sure these aren't mono. I ripped both myself from vinyl, encoded them v0 joint stereo with foobar via wav's made from audacity. I didn't adjust any setting in audacity at all. And I just randomly selected a bunch of stereo mp3's and imported each, after the fact, and not one imported as mono.
Is there some weird glitch in audacity that turns certain stereo tracks into mono? Like I said, I'm 100% sure these aren't mono tracks, and I have no idea why they would import that way. Any help would be appreciated.
