Cannot record on my new computer

Hi Friends,

I got myself a new computer and now I cannot get Audacity to record anything. I do not get the drop down menu giving me the choice of e g microphone or stereomix - as I do get on my XP machine and it works just fine.

The Audacity version is 1.2.6 for windows. My new computer works fine with Skype and I can listen to music from the net so I suspect there is an issue with Audacity then.

I have updated everything to the latest version as far as I can tell - also the drivers.

Here are the specs for my new computer:

Windows Vista Home Basic Service Pack 1

Acer Aspire 5738
Pentium Dual-Core T4300 2.10 Ghz
3 GB Ram

Display

Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family

Network

Atheros ARS5893 Wireless Network Adapter
Broadcom NetLink Gigabit Ethernet
Globe Trotter MO40x - Network Interface

Sound & Video

Intel High Definition Audio HDMI
Realtek High Definition Audio

I have been very happy with Audacity so I hope this issue can be resolved really soon as I am using it a lot!

Your help would be greatly appreciated!

Best wishes

1.3.10

Audacity 1.2 doesn't work all that well with the modern computers. Windows Vista/7 and Snow Leopard pretty much killed it off.

Hi Koz!

Thank you very much for your reply!

I will try the 1.3.10 and see how it works then!

It is so great that there are good people out there working on new versions! I am really grateful and wish I could help somehow but I am not a programmer ...

Best wishes
