Program ceases to respond can anyone help
Every 3 or 4 recordings the program ceases to respond and I have to switch it off. When I switch it on it then says that I have temporary files saved but I cannot access them and therefore have to repeat the recording. I have recently changed my computer and the new operating system is Windows Vista. My old one was XP could there be a compatibility problem with the Windows Vista as this problem has only started since the change.

Can I join in here? I have an associated problem with Audacity. Sometimes after saving files (as AUDACITY and WAV after I have done quite a bit of editing) when I re-open them the wave form appears on screen but there is no sound. Is this what you class as a crash or do I need more memory on my computer to process this?

It is recommended that you use the latest 1.3.x version of Audacity on Vista.

<<<I have an associated problem with Audacity.>>>
Actually, yours is completely different since your Audacity is still running.
It's not unusual for an Audacity Project to be silent, there are a lot of ways to break a Project, but it's Most unusual for the WAV file to be silent. Are you sure they're both silent?
We advocate Exporting As WAV as a safety backup in case your Project falls over. Did you Export to get the WAV file?
