I have Audacity installed on my computer, and recently got a usb cord for my guitar. I figured out how to record, the only problem is when I record, it records very very quietly. I checked the input volume, and saw it was at 0.0, but when I tried to raise it, it just automatically reset to 0.0. Can anybody help me?

Since the volume of a USB device is set inside the device, that's where you have to change the setting. Did you get a driver and software disk with your USB cable? That may have the control panels to change the level.
You should be very careful about doing that. Most USB devices record low to avoid digital overload. It's very simple to pump the volume up in post production. Audacity defaults to 32-bit floating as a sound standard, you should be able to Effect > Amplify to get the volume back to normal.
But if you record crunchy guitar from overload, overdriving, or clipping, you're dead. There's no filter that can put that right.
