hi. i'm having a major problem with audacity 1.2.6

i've created 6 long projects and saved them on one PC. then i tried to copy the files (main file, and accompanying folder) and open them in another PC. the files look the same in the graphic interface - but i can't hear anything! (actually, i can hear the forst 3 seconds)

i tried to save the project from PC #1 on a USB disk and tried tried to open it from the same disk on PC#2 - the same problem. on PC#1 everything is fine, on the other one - it dissapperas.
then i tried another project, anf another - all have the same strang behavior.

then i tried to open them with audacity 1.3.4 on PC#2. this time i get an error message about hundreds of "orphaned files" when i agree to delete them, the graphic fits the sound - 2 seconds here, 3 there, and the rest - silence.

i tried to open them with ver 1.3.4 on PC#1 - it works great. tried to save them on a USB disk - on PC#2 i get again the same error message about "orphaned files".

what should i do?

I assume this project depends on imported WAV or AIFF files. If you are then opening the project on another computer, the audio that those imported files contains must either have been copied into the _data folder, or the files must also be present on the other computer in the exact same file path as on the computer on which you created the project. Copying imported audio into the _data folder is done in Preferences. Please see:
http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php? ... _to_others

which explains about opening projects on other computers.

You know Projects aren't sound files, right? They're traffic cops.

If you move a project, you have to move the aup file, the _data folder and all the original capture clips. Oh, and put them all back together in the right order and place. Miss one original clip or put it in the wrong folder on the new machine and there is no show.

This burns everybody.
