All my files in raw data--how to recover

Post by wgdefoore » Sat Nov 21, 2009 8:10 pm

Hello

I have tried all of the recovery fixes I have seen on this board and in other Audacity sources. The files are in sequence, so that's not an issue. They are a recording of a live presentation, approx. 70-90 minutes in length. They are named b00004 through b00541, and I can open them individually with no problem. This is the result of a crash, by the way, and none of the automatic recovery processes worked for me. Anyone have suggestions for recovery of these files--that is, how to combine them and convert them into .au files? Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)

Thanks,

William

If you've been here and it didn't help, you have no show.

There was one posting where someone wrote code to assemble the snippets into a show. I believe that's the code in the recovery tools. The files may not actually be in order, by the way. Typically, they go Left-Right-Left-Right and they may not follow numerical values.

Thanks, guys. I appreciate the help. I went through the various fixes, and the automatic option worked fine to create the wav file, but when listening I discovered that the raw data files were out of sequence. I tried the manual method, but it's just too much effort, especially in light of the fact that many files are out of sequence. It would take weeks of work, and might not get the results I need. Oh, well...I'll live.

I'm going to keep the raw data, just in case some magic program is written that rearranges files into their original order and mixes them perfectly--maybe a pipe dream.
