Audacity 1.2.x is now obsolete. Please use the current Audacity 2.1.x version.

The final version of Audacity for Windows 98/ME is the legacy 2.0.0 version.

mp3 export issue

Post by bigbaddon » Fri Nov 20, 2009 5:12 pm

Blank areas are appearing in the middle of songs when exporting to mp3. The effect is inconsistent and am unsure when this happens. So, I now "re-import" the newly created mp3 to see if I have a "full" file. I am using version 1.3.9.

Can you drop back to one of the earlier Audacity versions? I use 1.3.7 and several posters have dropped back to earlier versions when they had troubles with 1.3.9.

There is a 1.3.10, but it's considered a alpha nightly build and I don't know if I would be excited about doing serious production on it.

That threw me for a moment - you have posted in the 1.2 part of the forum.

There is an issue in Audacity 1.3.8 and 1.3.9 that may be the problem, but another possibility is that your project includes audio files that are external to the project and these files are no longer available. If you "import" (as opposed to "record") any of the audio, it is a good idea to check if there are any "dependant" files external to the project (best to do this just before you save the project). To check for dependencies, "File menu > Check dependencies".

The issue that I refered to at the beginning appears to be fixed in Audacity 1.3.10 (available here: http://wiki.audacityteam.org/index.php? ... tly_Builds )
