Hight tones are pitched up and bass is not as what it has been played. I guess you can tell that all has been pitched up (frequency increased). I've tested it on Audacity 1.2.6 and 1.3.9. Exactly the same effect.
Windows 7 64 bit
Audigy Platinum
no EQ applied to source sound nor to windows sound
source: What U Hear (Creative SB Audigy) (primary driver tested too)
playback device: Speakers (Creative SB Audigy)
Any Ideas?

Re: Recorded sound are pitched up
You mean that when you record something, then play it back, the pitch is higher?
How much higher? Just a little, or considerably higher?
Does it also play faster?

Re: Recorded sound are pitched up
Thank you for fast response.
That's right - I record, then play it back and the pitch is higher than the source audio pitch.
As for how much

http://rapidshare.com/files/306417256/s ... dacity.mp3
It doesn't play faster as you'll see.

Re: Recorded sound are pitched up
OK, I see (hear) what you mean. The "pitch" is not actually any different, but the "tone" is very different - there is a marked lack of bass (it sounds thin and all treble).
This is going to be a sound card set up issue.
When you use "What U Here", the recording is not directly the source file, it is the source file (or streaming audio) after it has passed through the sound card. Any effects (including Equalization and volume) that are applied to the playback, will affect the recorded audio. Make sure that all effects are switched off.
When recording What U Hear it is important that all inputs and outputs that are not in use are muted, otherwise they will adversely affect the recorded sound - it is particularly important that when you are recording sounds playing on your computer that you mute the microphone.

Do you mark posts as SOLVED? You can mark this one.
The problem was not recording devices configuration. Additionally to "What you hear" there was microphone and line in enabled and they didn't interfere with recording process.
Solution:
The problem is present when the Headphones are set in Creative Audio console (instead of 2.1 speakers) together with CMSS setting and only then as CMSS setting is inactive when 2.1 speakers are selected (and probably 5.1+ speakers too).
See attachment.

Re: Recorded sound are pitched up
No problem. I like things established right and clear when I resolve a problem.
One more note. It can save a lot of time. No restarts of audacity was needed after changing settings in Creative Audio console. As for Windows Recording Devices I'm not sure but probably too.
