Hi,
I just got Vista, and my computer has a built-in microphone.
I want to record the music playing on my computer so that I can save it as a Windows Media file. However, Audacity is only recording through the microphone, and not capturing system volume. I've used Audacity for this very purpose for like eight years now, and before it was just set to Stereo Mix and worked fine. However, the built-in microphone seems to be screwing everything up. I can't get it to record system volume at all-- it only records from the microphone. If I disable the microphone from control planel, Audacity won't run. If I mute it, it won't record any sound at all.
I'm running the current Beta version of Audacity.
I looked here:

I think the problem is that the only devices I have on Vista is the Microphone. It doesn't show Line-In, CD-Audio, Aux, or Mono Mix. Why the heck would I NOT have these drivers? I literally got this computer yesterday. The only driver that displays under "Recording" for me is Microphone.
Please Help: Can't Record System Sounds
