Almost every time I try to record something I get normal recording followed by loud hiss then normal recording. Can anyone advise what the problem could be. Please see attachment example.jpg.

What's "Something?" USB Turntable? Plug-in Microphone?

Something would be:
I have my guitar plugged into my amp. I take the left and right output from the amp to a behringer UCA222 which is then connected via usb to the pc, where audacity runs. Audacity is configured to record sound from the behringer usb interface. This is how I'm recording my guitar playing. After several minutes the "block" of his shown in the attachment appears. Can you help ?

Your computer is loosing sync with the USB data.
Some things to try:
Shut down all other programs - including anything running in the background on your task bar.
If possible, avoid using any other USB devices at the same time.
Try connecting to a different USB socket if you have one.
Don't use a USB hub - connect directly to the USB socket on the computer.
Try disconnecting (physically) from the internet and temporarily disable your anti-virus program.

Hi stevethefiddle , thanks for your suggestion. I am connecting directing to usb port instead of the hub and it seems to be working fine. I dont know why they make these hubs. They are nothing but trouble. Thanks again

USB hubs are usually OK for connecting slow, non critical devices like keyboards or printers. If you loose the connection for 0.01 seconds with these devices you will probably not notice. For devices that need reliable, real-time, high speed data (such as sound cards or video capture) it is a different story and the loss of connection for 0.01 seconds will ruin the show.
