I want to record a song I'm listening to online, but audacity instead records the sound taken by my laptop's microphone. Is there any way to change the source from which audacity gets its audio so I can directly record the music my speakers would be playing if I had them on? I don't want to play the music loudly and record that, because the quality would suck.
Thanks,
Sasha

Re: Record Internal Music
Have you tried changing the selection in the Mixer Toolbar at upper right? On my computer, if you select "Stereo Mix" that will record what your sound card is putting out.
Note that I've experienced a fair amount of noise or hiss when trying this. Maybe you'll have better luck. You'd think it would be a perfect recording, but it's not from my experience.
